Being Human Festival of the Humanities at the University of St. Andrews
30 Oct 2014, by News inThe Italian Department of the University of St Andrews hosts a few special events as part of the UK-wide Being Human Festival of the Humanities.
There will be workshops on photography and translation in the morning. In the afternoon representatives of the Rome-based Archivio Memorie Migranti and Pan African Arts in Glasgow will discuss how migrants appear in the media, and how their own work challenges common stereotypes in Italy and Scotland.
One event of particular interest will be a screening Dagmawi Yimer’s film Va’ pensiero, an exploration of racist violence in Italy, and putting on an exhibition of the work of prize-winning photographer and video artist Mario Badagliacca.
